Subject areas

A manuscript goes to an editor with a research degree in its field. Someone who has read the literature can tell an overstated claim from a cautious one.

What we staff

Fields we hold editors in

These are the areas we keep editors and statisticians in, which is not the same as the limit of what we can read. If your field is not here, ask: the answer is either the name of the person who would take it or an honest no.

Matching

How your editor is chosen

We match on subfield rather than on discipline. A cardiology trial and a structural biology paper are both life sciences and have almost nothing in common to read for, so they go to different people.

Statistical review is assigned separately to a biostatistician, because noticing that a test does not fit the design is a different skill from noticing a dangling modifier.

Meet the editors
Languages

If the draft is not in English yet

Send it in the language you wrote it in. Translation is done by a specialist with a research degree in your field rather than by a general translator working from a glossary, and the language editing is included.

We correspond in English, 日本語, 中文, 한국어, Bahasa, Português, العربية.
